This book was super cliché where the nobody-girl gets the attention of the hottest guy in school. But there was more to the story (in other words, the main character wasn't really a nobody). So I would say it worked for this book. It was very interesting to learn how soul screamers work, and the fact that there's more to the story than what's in this book. It's definitely a series I will most likely continue.
